Empowerment Tips
Are processed meats really causing cancer?
“Processed meats - such as bacon, sausages and ham - do cause cancer, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).”
  • Sodium nitrite found in processed meats, destroys cells and cause cancer
  • Chemicals involved in the processing of meats are carcinogen
  • Processed meats can raise blood pressure and cause heart disease
  • Most meats take at least 4 hours to be digested
  • The resources needed for meat production have a negative impact on the environment
What can we do:
  • Eliminate all processed meats such as bacon, sausages, hot dogs, cold cuts
  • Reduce (or eliminate if possible) the consumption of animal products, especially red meat.

Obtaining Informed consent without the services of a professional interpreter is one of the most dangerous scenarios a healthcare provider can encounter in his/her professional life when there is a language barrier. It is like playing the dice on your patient's lives and in your career.
"The written word requires quite different techniques from the spoken word, so that professionals from each discipline work in contexts that appear as different to each other as night and day."

"Boa Sr, who died last week aged about 85, was the last native of the Andaman Islands who was fluent in Bo.Named after the tribe, Bo is one of the 10 Great Andamanese languages, which are thought to date back to the pre-Neolithic period when the earliest humans walked out of Africa."

"Do we smile and frown differently in a second language? D
o our faces and bodies betray not only our emotions but also the languages we speak? Affirmative answers to these questions could change the way we think about bicultural bilinguals, suggesting that they have not only two minds and two selves, but also two bodies."
