Our Power is our Care, Our Power is our Presence!
Canada is expected to welcome nearly 1 million immigrants over the next three years, according to a Liberal Government strategy. And the latest census numbers indicate multicultural Toronto is still the destination of choice for the majority of them.
The Stolen Bicycle by Taiwanese author Wu Ming-Yi and translated by Canadian Darryl Sterk is one of 13 books longlisted for the Man Booker International Prize.
The £50,000 ($89,765.00 CAD) prize, which is divided equally between the author and translator, honours the best work of fiction translated into English from around the world.
In the study out of Florida International University (FIU) in Miami, participants listened to audio recordings of three native Spanish speakers from Barcelona, Spain; Bogota, Colombia and Havana, Cuba and rated the accents for different attributes tied to income, profession and family background.
There are studies that show how our behaviour changes according to the language we speak.
Interpreter Training Boston advocates for the highest level of certification for all professional interpreters. We provide the training to enable students to confidently take these certification examinations so that they can provide the best interpreting services possible. Sadly this isn’t the case for every interpreter training agency, and often uncertified interpreter services can end disastrously such as in the following incidents.

Before we can identify ourselves as professional translators, interpreters, managers, administrators, professors, business owners or any other designation we may have, we are human beings with the same needs and wants.
We need to take care of ourselves, be happy and fulfilled to be able to do a good job and accomplish what we desire in life.
Because we understand the need to work on our personal development, we regularly promote personal empowerment events.
We have Tony Robbins coming to Toronto on September 26, 2018.

Increase Your Social Skills
We are social beings. Relationships are the currency of life. But we are never formally taught how to form strong connections and thrive socially. The follow strategies will make you a pro in social situations.
Energy is Contagious
When someone in a social setting is high energy, people are naturally drawn to that person. Next time you're in a social setting, raise your energy by 10%. This may make you feel uncomfortable, but the more you do it, the more natural it will become. It will highlight more of your personality and make you instantly more likeable.
Listen More than You Speak
No one wants to listen to the person that can't stop talking. When you listen to others, it shows that you genuinely care. People will be more inclined to engage with you because they feel like you're interested in what they have to say.
Find Common Ground
The most important part when building rapport with someone or a group of people is finding common ground. Interests, passions, careers, or anything you can find in which you can relate to the person will build instant connection.
Give Compliments
Have you ever met someone who is everyone's biggest Fan? They are instantly the life of any social situation. When you give someone a genuine compliment, they are naturally inclined to like you. Be everyone's biggest fan - it makes any social setting feel great!
Whether you want to build more confidence, put yourself out there, or just build more meaningful relationships, these skills implemented every day will raise the bar in your level of social connections and ultimately make you a social master!
