Switched-on speaking styles not 'nefarious' but natural, linguists say
"Linguists say it's common during U.S. election cycles to hear a variety of regional accents on the campaign trail, but also some 'code-switching,' in which candidates might change up their dialects or styles of speaking during one interaction."
"A new telephone hotline service, launched by the US for Syrians to report ceasefire violations in the war-ravaged country, faces a significant problem: personnel answering the phones are Americans not fluent in Arabic."

"A study led by the University of Southampton has found there is no difference in the time it takes people from different countries to read and process different languages."

Empowerment Tips
How to Set Your Day Up For Success!
For many of us, it is hard to wake up feeling great and ready to conquer the day. We are all guilty of wanting to hit snooze on that alarm clock and just go back to our dreams for 10 more minutes. What we do in the first hour of our day drastically affects the way the rest of our day goes. Here are some ways to kickstart your day and make each day a success!
1.) Stand Up!
A big problem for a lot of people is getting out of bed. They hit snooze 3 or 4 times and then it's 11am and they are still in bed! An easy way to get yourself up is to put your alarm across the room so it forces you to stand up and get going.
2.) Drink a Cold Glass of Water
This not only contributes to you feeling more energized, it also boosts your metabolism and aids in weight loss. It's a win-win!
3.) Meditate
There are countless studies of the benefits of morning meditation. It sets the intention of how you want the day to go while also relaxing you, ridding you from any stress you may have.
4.) EAT
After being asleep for 7-8 hours. Your body needs fuel to get your metabolism running at an optimal level once again. Your body just came out of a fast so give it the fuel it needs to get you through the day.
5.) Get Moving
Maintaining a regular (healthy, non-obsessive) exercise routine has been proven to reduce stress, improve mood, enhance self-esteem, and increase energy levels. This is a perfect addition to your morning ritual as it gives you the physical energy you need to crush the day!

Content from non-profit associations

We are glad to support the work of non-profit associations working towards the improvement of the translation and interpreting field. If you have events or news to share, we will be happy to publish them at no cost.
"This offseason, Major League Baseball took a significant step toward filling that void when it issued a directive that all 30 teams hire a full-time translator by the start of the 2016 season. For the Phillies, the role will be filled by Diego Ettedgui, a 28-year-old former writer who arrived in Clearwater earlier this week and was officially hired on Wednesday."
"While parts of the notorious ‘Jungle’ camp in France’s Calais are being bulldozed, some asylum seekers are not giving up hopes of getting to the UK. Some have even appealed to the British royals, saying they’ve risked their lives for the country."
Free raffle: We love to hear from you, this is how we improve. Please submit your feedback by March 15 (extended by 1 week) to [email protected] for an opportunity to win 1 ticket to the Power of Success event.
