"An error in translating death certificates from French to German means that relatives of people killed in the Germanwings flight4U9525 crash will have to wait longer for their remains to be returned."

"A human translator asks the very questions — What purpose is this text designed to serve? What aims are encoded in this language? — that a machine regards as entirely beside the point. The problem is that all texts have some purpose in mind, and what a good human translator does is pay attention to how the means serve the end — how the “style” exists in relationship to “the gist.” The oddity is that belief in the existence of an isolated “gist” often obscures the interests at the heart of translation."

"Use of the Spanish language has been growing steadily since the 16th century, but has suddenly accelerated over the last century — in the late 19th century, there were some 60 million Spanish speakers, and now, there are nearly 600 million, making Spanish the world’s fourth-most-spoken language (after Chinese, English, and Hindi). And this growth looks set to continue into the 21st century."
Health Tips
Nutrition, mindset and physical exercise play a key role on our health, however, there are some other factors to consider.
According to the Public Health Agency of Canada, there are 12 Key Determinants of Health, Income is the first one, here are some universally known tips about MONEY:
  • Be grateful for what you have
  • Spend less than you earn and invest the difference
  • Save 10% of your income "automatically" (automatic debit from your bank account)
  • Become an investor rather than a consumer, avoid becoming a victim of consumerism
  • Be aware that "stuff" will not bring you happiness, experiences will
  • Be careful about small expenses such as coffee or eating out – they all add up
  • Keep detailed track of your expenses to be able to reduce them and save even more. Organization is essential for good financial planning
  • Understand the power of compounding
  • Know the interest you pay on credit cards, pay those with high interest first. Consolidate debt to lower interest vehicles such as credit lines.
  • Be aware of fees you pay (i.e. bank, insurance, etc.)
  • Research has proven that our income is directly related to the amount of time we watch TV, decrease TV time, read more
  • Invest in your education
  • Avoid complaining, "Change your expectations for appreciation"
  • Avoid using excuses, they make you weaker
  • Have clear, concrete and time sensitive financial goals

"Showboating to the gallery‚ inaccurate translations and drunkenness are putting South Africa’s justice system in jeopardy."

"A study in Eastern Cape has highlighted the problem of unprofessional court interpreters‚ who are often inadequately trained. The research was conducted by an Eastern Cape advocate who looked at language policy and the use of court interpreters. He found that a lack of understanding of regional dialects often resulted in the wrong translation of local Xhosa expressions."

“Frozen, Aladdin and The Lion King take on a slightly different feel when their lyrics move from English to Italian.”
“A recent court decision that orders the federal Crown to pay the costs of a preliminary hearing for a defendant in a cocaine trafficking case because of language rights violations sends an important message about the importance of these rights.”
